The Ohio Angus Annual Meeting was held on January 15th, at the Pine Acres Event Center in Washington C.H., OH.  Attendance was hindered by the latest COVID variant that made its way around during the holiday, although total attendance was still 65 including adult and junior members.

2021 Distinguished Service Award
Presented to Dave Baird, Washington C.H., OH
2021 Commercial Cattleman Award
Presented to Adam & Mia Frantz; Christiansburg, OH

The Baird family have long been fixtures in the Ohio Angus Association.  Dave’s parents Wayne & Marcia Baird started Baird Angus Farm in the mid 1960’s and have been actively involved ever since.  Dave and his three sisters grow up in the Ohio Junior Angus Association showing on both the State and National level and the Baird family has exhibited Angus cattle at the Ohio State Fair for over fifty years.
After the passing of his father, Wayne Baird on 2017; Dave stepped up and assumed a role on the Ohio Angus Board of Directors to further represent the Baird family.  Dave has been a very active board member serving on the Commercial Cattle Relations, Show and Sale Committees.  As well as hosting the 2021 Ohio Angus Preview Show at the Fayette Co. Fairgrounds and the 2022 Ohio Angus Annual Meeting in Washington C.H., OH.
Dave’s father Wayne Baird had long been nicknamed “Mr. Dependable” during his decades of serving on the Ohio Angus Board as he was always around at any Ohio Angus event ready and willing to help in anyway possible.  He most memorable roles were serving as the line up man at the Preview Show and Beef Expo Super Star making sure everyone was in the ring on time and in the proper order.  As they say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.  Dave has consistently displayed the same work ethic and dedication to help the Association in anyway possible.  Regularly he has voluntarily showed up during check-in at the Beef Expo or Fall Female Sale to assist working, tagging and checking in cattle.  Dave had volunteered to host and coordinate the Annual Meeting in 2021 but when that event had to be canceled due to COVID, the Board opted to go a different direction for 2022.  However when a late in the game issue arose with the facility, Dave quickly stepped up and pulled together the event using his originally planned facility and caterer from 2021. These are the things that make Dave such an asset to the Ohio Angus Board and Membership.
Congratulations Dave!  Your time, effort and dedication is very appreciated!

he Frantz-Grimes Family has a true passion for feeding the world with high quality and consistent beef. As stated directly on their website:

“Raising high quality beef is our passion and it’s a family tradition. We are the 5th generation to raise Black Angus beef on this farm … We take customer satisfaction seriously and stand behind all of our products!

Owner Operator, Adam Frantz, made the decision to start his beef retail cut operation utilizing Angus genetics knowing that the breed had a business focus. Because of the mass amounts of data backing up the EPDs he knew that he could rely on the numbers to grow and improve his herd. These would help him provide a consistent and desirable product to sell to his growing base of retail and individual consumers.
They source their Angus genetics through sales and private treaty with Angus breeders that have a focus on longevity and Targeting the Brand. They utilize AI to compliment their females ensuring that growth, carcass quality and efficiency are at the forefront of their operation.
Honey Creek Beef has the desire to continue to grow their herd and market for fresh high quality Angus beef while maintaining the integrity that 100% of his sales are derived from conception to finish. In addition, this is a family operation. You can often see Adam, his wife Mia, and young daughters, Marie and Rosey hard at work on the farm with their farm partner, Wes Lambert.
