Consignment Rules & Information
Sale Eligibility: The sale is limited to females and Angus show steer prospects only. No bulls will be
sold. All females should be no older than 7 years of age. Open heifers will be limited to 10 head. If more than 10 are consigned, sale committee will sort entries to select the 10 that sell. There is no limit on total number of consignments per consignor. In the event we are over run with entries, sale committee reserves right to limit entries from larger consignors.
Consignment Fee: All lots are required to pay a $100 consignment fee at time of entry. Fee is non-
refundable if the lot is scratched after entry deadline. Fee is credited towards that lots sales expenses
after sale for lots that go through the sale.
Catalog Photos: Photos of animals selling are highly recommended. Photos should be high resolution
(300 DPI). If you need assistance contacting a professional photographer, let sale committee know. Sale Committee reserves the right to omit submitted photos from the catalog, as a bad photo is worse than no photo at all.
Videos: Videos of your consignments are highly recommended for us to use to promote your animal on our Website and on Social Media. If you need assistance contacting a professional photographer, let sale committee know. Sale Committee reserves the right to omit submitted videos from the marketing efforts as a bad video is worse than no video at all.
840 RFID Tags: To make sure will properly abide by the National I.D. laws. We will be requiring all sale
cattle have a 840 EID tag when arriving at sale site. Corresponding 16 digit number should be included on CVI (Health Paper).
Health Requirements: Enclosed you should find a copy of the health requirements. If you or your
veterinarian have any questions on health requirements, please feel free to contact me - we have plenty of interest from out of state buyers so we need to be sure our cattle are certified to ship to any state.
Ear Tags & Tattoos: All sale cattle will be processed upon arrival to sale location. At this time we will
check tattoos and put in sale tags. Make sure to double check that your cattle are tattooed and
tattooed correctly. It is much easier to correct these types of issues prior to sale check-in.
Clipping & Presentation: It is required that all cattle be washed and clipped prior to coming to the
sale. At the minimum all lots should have their head, neck, top line and tail clipped to clean up and blend longer hairs. We’d recommend all open heifers be more show clipped for the sale. Outlets will be available for consignors wishing to blow-out haltered cattle.
Arrival Time: All cattle are to arrive and be in place by 12 Noon, Friday before the sale. This
will allow time to process and pen cattle in sale groups and complete evaluation for the sale order. Cattlecan begin arriving to the sale site after 8 a.m. on Thursday prior to the sale.
Health Requirements

All sale cattle are REQUIRED to have official 840 RFID tags in their ears prior to arrival at the sale site. RFID tags are acceptable only if the first three numbers are “840” and the herd premise ID number appears on the CVI (Health Paper). No other form of ID is acceptable for sale cattle.

An Official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) is REQUIRED for all sale cattle. A CVI is a form from the state of origin that has been completed and issued by a licensed and accredited veterinarian attesting to the health status of the animal listed thereon, within 30 days prior to the date of the sale.

Each sale animal must be issued its own individual CVI. That is, bring one health paper for each lot. Do not list more than one sale animal on a CVI. Please write the sale lot number of the animal on the top right corner of the CVI. In the case of cow-calf pairs, if the calf is of an age such that it will certainly not be split from its mother, the dam and calf may be listed on the same CVI. If there is any chance that the dam and calf will be sold to different buyers, they should each be issued an individual CVI.

All animals for which a CVI is required are REQUIRED to have official individual identification (Acceptable forms of ID are official USDA metal tags or tattoos that correspond to breed registration certificates).

It is not required but is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that all cattle receive at least one dose of modified live (2 to 4 weeks prior to the event) or two doses of killed (2 to 4 weeks apart with the second dose 2 to 4 weeks prior to the event) respiratory disease (IBR, BVD, BRSV, PI3) vaccine.

It is not required but is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that all sale cattle be tested for Bovine Viral Diarrhea (BVD) persistent infection (PI) status. Animals must be individually tested. Consult your veterinarian or contact sale manager for more information and testing procedures. (inexpensive tests can be done on your own by sending blood to labs)

Brucellosis requirements for sale cattle (including cattle originating in Ohio):

Animals originating from a certified Brucellosis free herd: No test required.

The date of the last herd test and the herd certification number MUST be listed on the CVI.

Animals originating from a non-certified herd:
-
Animals under 6 months of age: No test required.

Females between 6 months and 14 months of age:

If Officially Calfhood Vaccinated (OCV), no test required. Proof that the female is OCV must be written on the CVI by the veterinarian. Examples of proof are listed below.’

If not OCV, then must be negative to an official Brucellosis test conducted within 30 days of the date of the sale.

All animals over 14 months of age (including OCV females) must be negative to an official Brucellosis test conducted within 30 days of the date of the sale.

Note: Official Calfhood Vaccination (OCV) for brucellosis is not required but is desirable since some states will not allow females to enter the state if they were not vaccinated as calves. If a female was OCV then it is imperative that some evidence proving this appears on the CVI. Examples of “proof” include:

“V” series USDA tag number recorded on CVI.

The letters “OCV” with the veterinarian’s initials written on the CVI attesting that the veterinarian has observed a legible official OCV tattoo in the animal.

A copy of the original OCV certificate that clearly identifies the animal that was OCV as the same animal listed on the CVI.

Tuberculosis (TB) requirements for sale cattle (including cattle originating in Ohio):

Animals originating from an accredited Tuberculosis free herd: No test required.

The date of the last herd test and the herd accreditation number MUST be listed on the CVI.

Animals originating from a non-accredited herd:

Animals under 15 months of age: No test required.

Animals over 15 months of age: must be negative to a TB test performed within 60 days of the date of the sale.
