Preview Show Rules

All Exhibitors Must be current members of the Ohio Junior Angus Association or the Ohio Angus Association.

Entry fee is $20.00 per animal in the Open show and $15.00 per animal in the Junior show. Bedding Fee is $20 per animal, Cow/Calf Pairs count at one animal for bedding. All fees must accompany the Entry Form.

Appropriate entry blanks should be complete if you are exhibiting in both the Junior and Open Shows. Entries must be submitted ONLINE ONLY by May 25, 2022.

There will be a cow and calf division in both the Open and Junior shows. In both shows there will be classes for cows with natural calves.

Additional entry fees are not required to enter group classes of the Open show. Steers can only be shown in the Junior show.

Entries will be listed in the catalog in order by age, youngest to oldest, and will be led into the ring in catalog order.

Cattle must be registered at time of entry and will be shown exactly as ownership is recorded on the Registration Certificate.

Entries must have legible Tattoos corresponding to their Registration Certificates. You must present original Registration certificates at check-in. Animals not meeting these requirements will not show.

All cattle must arrive and check in by 9:00 A.M., Saturday, June 11th.

Entry fee will be paid online with entries by credit card.

The right is reserved to reject any entry and to bar any entry from competition for failure to comply with the rules of the Ohio Angus Association. Any and all disputes shall be settled by the Show Committee. Its decisions will be final.

The Ohio Angus Association and The Ohio Junior Angus Association are not responsible for accidents.
General Rules
Open Division Rules

Exhibitors Must be members of the Ohio Angus Association or of the Ohio Junior Angus Association and must reside in Ohio and/or maintain a herd of Angus cattle in Ohio. (Nonresidents who are members and maintain a herd in Ohio are eligible as are Ohio residents who maintain cattle in another state.

All cattle must be owned by and registered to the exhibitor at the time of entry.

The Ohio Angus Preview Show will be operated using the Futurity System of Showing. There will be classes for; BREEDING ANIMALS to be divided into classes of approximately equal number by the show committee. There will be a cow/calf division. BEST SIX HEAD - owned or co-owned by one breeder/1st owner. GET-OF-SIRE-four animals by one sire, both sexes represented. JR. GET-OF-SIRE-three animals by one sire, both sexes represented, calved on/or after May 1, 2020. PREMIER EXHIBITOR to be determined by a point system based on a maximum of six head with animals either owned or co-owned by the exhibitor as long as these cattle are being maintained by the exhibitor. Animals may be owned by the various members of the same immediate family or firm. PREMIER BREEDER - to be awarded to the breeder winning the most points with animals bred by him/her but not necessarily exhibited by him/her. Must not exceed 6 head. Points will be awarded to top 3 places per class.

Animals must be eligible to show under the standard classification of the American Angus Association (except cows for the Cow/Calf Classes). Bulls must be calved on or after January 1, 2020, and Females must be calved on or after September 1, 2020.

Removal of Cattle from the fairgrounds is authorized only after completion of the last class of the show on Sunday. Premiums shall be forfeited for earlier removal.
Junior Show Rules

Exhibitors Must be paid members of the Ohio Junior Angus Association.

Exhibitors must be 8 years old by Jan. 1, 2022 and not have reached their 21st birthday before Jan. 1, 2022.

Exhibitors may show heifers, bred-and-owned heifers, bred-and-owned bulls, registered Angus steers and cow/calf pairs. Calves at side of Cows must be bred-and-owned. Those calves may also be exhibited in the individual classes.

Bred-and-owned heifers will be shown only in bred-and-owned classes. These animals must be entered in the bred-and-owned classes to compete in this show.

Animals must be shown by exhibitor, except in case of illness. Approval of the Junior Show committee is required.

There will be a minimum of (8) classes of owned heifers which will be divided by age. Bred-and-owned bull and heifer classes will be determined after arrival at the show. Bred-and-owned bulls and registered Angus steers must be calved after January 1, 2021, Owned heifers and bred-and- owned heifers must be calved after September 1, 2020. There is no age limit on cows. In cow/calf classes the calf must be the last natural calf born after September 1, 2021. There will be Calf, Intermediate, Junior and Senior Yearling Heifer Champions and Reserves. If possible, Steers will be weighed but will be shown by age with classes determined after arrival. There will be a Champion & Reserve Steer.

Jr. Entries must arrive by 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 11th. Entries leaving the grounds before the completion of the show shall forfeit all premiums.

An optional Jackpot steer contest will be held within the regular steer show. To enter, simply check the appropriate box on the entry form and include an additional $10. This is in addition to the entry fee. The highest placing steer in the Jackpot will win the entire purse.

Entries are released after completion of the Junior Show, Saturday.

All Owned animals must be registered in the name of the exhibitor by May 25, 2022, Bred-and-Owned animals must be registered by May 25, 2022.

Exhibitors must agree to allow their animals to be used as demonstration animals if requested to do so by Ohio Jr. Angus officials.
